Vietnam Airlines has said it will suspend all flights to the central city of Hue, as the city’s Phu Bai International Airport is undergoing construction work from now until June 13.
In exchange, the national carrier will increase flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to the central city of Da Nang, which is some 90 kilometers from Hue, with Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
Under the new plan, Vietnam Airlines will provide 1,600-1,850 seats per day on the Hanoi – Da Nang route, and 2,200-2,400 on the HCMC – Da Nang route.
Previously, the Ministry of Transport decided to temporarily close Phu Bai Airport for repairs on its runways as proposed by the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam and the Middle Airports Corporation.
International flights to Phu Bai now will be moved to Da Nang International Airport, while domestic flights will be transferred to the Da Nang Airport and Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Binh province, said the Dan Tri newspaper citing the aviation administration.
